One of the greatest journeys by water, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is a year long sailing endeavour across the world. It spans 40,000 nautical miles, has 8 legs including the Atlantic, Southern Ocean, and North Pacific, and takes part in 14 stages reaching 46 countries. Each yacht must navigate everything Mother Nature throws at it in a true test of endurance.
Ava Innes is proud to be a small part of this momentous journey, embarking on GOSH Team’s yacht with adventuress Aoife McSorley from the UK. Aoife takes with her natural comfort essentials from Ava Innes, supporting her sleep wellness throughout the race.
Aoife is part of the crew on the GOSH Team (Great Ormond Street Hospital), raising awareness for the hospital’s life-changing work with children and their families.

Because the crew faces conditions that can change at any minute, there are only small windows when a crew member can take their turn to rest. These small moments must be quality. One where the body and mind can restore, rest, and prepare for the job and realities at hand.
Joan Johnston, founder of Ava Innes, said: “Sleep is so important for our resilience. It restores the mind, helping to process challenges, and repairs the body whilst generating new energy and determination for what is ahead. Grounded in the flowing water of our coastline and great rivers here in Scotland, nature is what guides Ava Innes’ approach to natural sleep and sustainable practices. Experiencing nature with deep gratitude, alongside deep sleep, is what sails us through the many ebbs and flows of life. We are absolutely delighted to extend our mission of quality natural sleep to the world’s greatest water arenas, where teams and individuals inspire by proving what is possible when we work with nature – rather than against it. We wish Aoife, all her team members, and all those racing the best of luck (and sleep) as they undergo an experience of a lifetime.”
Specialising in cashmere and wool natural home bedding and accessories, Ava Innes is best known for the forgotten natural fibre of Cashmere Guard that has natural temperature regulating qualities. Ava Innes uses the rich regenerative fibre of Cashmere Guard to create sustainable and natural duvets with a signature ‘S’ stitch wave. The wave stitch is a nod to the responsible making practices at the heart of Ava Innes, a holistic approach to sleep rooted in changing tides and flowing rivers, as well as an unwavering commitment to only use the best natural fibres for natural sleep and wellbeing.
